The Yokosuka E14Y was a Japanese catapult-launched reconnaissance floatplane used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II, notable for being the only enemy aircraft to bomb the continental United States when one was launched from a submarine off the Oregon coast in 1942. The diminutive single-engine aircraft was designed for observation and artillery spotting missions from warships and submarines, serving throughout the Pacific War until Japan's surrender in 1945.
