The Sturmgeschütz IV was a German tank destroyer used from 1943-1945, mounting a 75mm gun on a Panzer IV chassis and designed for close infantry support and anti-tank roles. The addition of Schürzen (sideskirts) to the hull and superstructure became standard in late-war production to provide improved protection against shaped-charge weapons and Soviet anti-tank rifles.
