The M4 Sherman was the primary medium tank used by the United States Army during World War II and beyond, seeing extensive service from 1942 onwards and becoming the most widely produced American tank of the war, known for its reliability, ease of manufacture, and versatility despite being outgunned by heavier German tanks. The Sherman I variant was the initial production model featuring a 75mm gun and was deployed across European and Pacific theaters, earning its place as one of the most iconic tanks of the conflict.
