The Sherman Firefly was a British-modified M4 Sherman tank equipped with a powerful 17-pounder anti-tank gun, developed during World War II to counter increasingly heavily-armored German tanks. Introduced in 1943 and extensively used from 1944-1945, it became one of the most effective tank destroyers of the European theater, known for its superior firepower despite the modification's awkward profile and limited gun traverse.
