The Seversky P-43 Lancer was an American single-engine fighter aircraft developed in the late 1930s and used by the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, serving primarily in reconnaissance and training roles due to being outperformed by contemporary fighters like the P-47 Thunderbolt. The P-43A variant, produced from 1941-1943, was notable for its improved engine and armament, though it saw limited combat service and was better known for its use in photo-reconnaissance missions, particularly in the China-Burma-India theater.
