The SAAB J-29 Tunnan was a Swedish jet fighter aircraft that first flew in 1948 and served with the Swedish Air Force from 1951 through the 1950s, becoming notable as Sweden's first domestically-designed and produced jet fighter and for its distinctive barrel-shaped fuselage. The aircraft gained further recognition through its combat service with Swedish volunteer pilots during the Korean War, where it demonstrated competitive performance against contemporary Soviet and American fighters.
