The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engine dive bomber that first saw combat in 1941 and served throughout World War II, earning a reputation as one of the most effective and heavily-armed Soviet bombers of the war. The M-82 variant, introduced in 1943, featured more powerful Shvetsov M-82 radial engines, improving performance and reliability compared to earlier models.
