The Panzer IV was Nazi Germany's primary medium tank during World War II, produced from 1936 onwards and known for its versatility, reliability, and effectiveness across multiple combat theaters. The side skirts (Schürzen) were added in 1943 as reactive armor to protect against anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge weapons, becoming a distinctive feature of late-war variants.
