The QF 17-Pounder was a British anti-tank gun developed during World War II, entering service in 1942, and became one of the most effective anti-tank weapons of the war due to its superior penetrating power and range compared to contemporary German armor. It remained in service with British forces well into the Cold War era and saw action in numerous theaters including North Africa, Europe, and Asia.
