The Nakajima Ki-44 was a Japanese fighter aircraft that entered service in 1941 and saw action throughout World War II in the Pacific Theater, known for its exceptional climb rate and maneuverability but limited range and firepower compared to Allied fighters. The Ki-44-II Hei variant, introduced in 1943, featured upgraded armament and engine improvements to better compete with advancing enemy aircraft.
