The Mitsubishi Ki-83 was a high-altitude interceptor aircraft developed by Imperial Japan during World War II, designed to counter American B-29 Superfortress bombers at extreme altitudes. Although the prototype first flew in 1945, the aircraft never saw combat before Japan's surrender, remaining one of the war's most advanced but ultimately unrealized fighter designs.
