The Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden (Lightning) was a Japanese interceptor aircraft developed during World War II, entering service in 1943 and becoming renowned for its exceptional climb rate and powerful armament, making it one of Japan's most effective home defense fighters against high-altitude Allied bombers. The J2M3 variant represented the peak of the Raiden's development, featuring enhanced engines and firepower, and served primarily in defensive operations over the Japanese home islands until the war's end in 1945.
