The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15bis was a Soviet jet fighter that entered service in 1949 and became one of the most widely produced and exported fighter aircraft of the early Cold War era, achieving fame during the Korean War (1950-1953) as a highly capable opponent to American fighters. The improved "bis" variant featured a more powerful engine and enhanced armament, making it a significant milestone in Soviet aviation technology and a symbol of Soviet industrial capability during the early nuclear age.
