The MiG-17 was a Soviet jet fighter aircraft that entered service in 1952 and saw extensive use during the Korean War and subsequent Cold War conflicts, becoming one of the first supersonic fighters and earning a reputation as a highly maneuverable dogfighter that challenged American air superiority. Its swept-wing design and reliable performance made it one of the most widely produced and exported Soviet aircraft, serving with numerous allied nations throughout the 1950s and beyond.
