The Mark V was a British heavy tank used primarily during World War I, introduced in 1918, and was the first tank to successfully combine an internal combustion engine with adequate armor protection and firepower. It is remembered as one of the most effective tanks of WWI and remained in service through the 1920s, seeing limited action in various post-war conflicts.
