The Mark IV Tank was a British heavy tank used extensively during World War I, particularly famous for its role in the Battle of the Somme (1916) and subsequent major offensives, where it became the first tank to see large-scale combat and proved the viability of armored warfare. The "Male" variant was equipped with two 6-pounder guns mounted in side sponsons along with multiple machine guns, making it the primary gun-armed version of this revolutionary military vehicle.
