The M3 Grant was a medium tank used by American and British forces during World War II, seeing significant action from 1941 to 1943 in North Africa and the Pacific, and was notable for being one of the first American tanks to see combat but quickly became obsolete due to its high profile and inferior armor compared to German tanks. The tank was eventually replaced by the superior M4 Sherman but remained an important stopgap vehicle in the early years of American tank warfare.
