The M26 Pershing was a heavy tank deployed by the United States during the final months of World War II in Europe and later saw extensive service during the Korean War, notable for being one of the first tanks to feature a 90mm gun and for its superior firepower compared to earlier American tank designs. The side skirts were armor additions installed on many Pershing tanks to provide additional protection against shaped-charge anti-tank weapons.
