The Lavochkin La-9 was a Soviet fighter aircraft that entered service in 1946 and served through the early Cold War period, known for its improved speed and climb rate compared to earlier Soviet designs and its use by various Soviet-aligned air forces into the 1950s. It gained particular recognition during the Korean War, where Soviet and North Korean pilots flew it in combat against American jets.
