The LAV-R (Light Armored Vehicle-Recovery) was a 6-wheeled armored recovery and maintenance vehicle developed by General Dynamics and first deployed by the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1980s, serving as the primary recovery platform for light armored vehicle battalions during operations from the Gulf War through the 2000s. It was recognized for its mobility, armor protection, and integrated recovery equipment including a boom crane and winch, making it essential for battlefield recovery and maintenance support.
