The Landing Craft Assault (LCA) was a small amphibious vessel used primarily by the British Royal Navy during World War II to transport infantry and equipment from transport ships to beachheads, most notably during the D-Day invasion of Normandy in 1944. Capable of carrying approximately 35 soldiers, the LCA became iconic for its role in large-scale amphibious operations and is remembered as a crucial component of Allied beach landings throughout the European and Pacific theaters.
