The KV-1B was a Soviet heavy tank produced in limited numbers during 1940-1941, known for its exceptional armor protection and use during the early stages of Operation Barbarossa, where it proved nearly invulnerable to most contemporary German anti-tank weapons. The variant featured improved firepower and modifications based on combat experience, making it one of the most formidable tanks of the early war period before being superseded by the KV-85 and IS series.
