The Kawasaki Ki-61 was a Japanese fighter aircraft used during World War II, notable for being one of the few Japanese fighters powered by a liquid-cooled inline engine rather than a radial engine, giving it a distinctive sleek appearance and competitive performance against Allied fighters from 1943 onwards. The Ki-61 Ib variant featured improved armament and performance specifications, serving primarily in the Pacific Theater until the war's end in 1945.
