The Kawanishi N1K1-J Shiden was a Japanese fighter aircraft that entered service in 1943 and became one of the Imperial Navy's most capable fighters of the Pacific War, known for its excellent maneuverability, powerful armament, and distinctive inverted gull wing design. It saw extensive combat operations against Allied forces throughout 1944-1945 and earned respect from enemy pilots as a formidable opponent despite arriving late in the war.
