The Kawanishi N1K Rex was a Japanese carrier-based fighter aircraft developed during World War II, first seeing combat in 1943, and was notable for its distinctive inverted gull wing design and reputation as one of the more maneuverable Japanese naval fighters of the war. The early variant featured different armament and aerodynamic refinements compared to later models, making it a significant evolution in Japanese naval aviation technology during the mid-war period.
