The J1N1 Gekko (Moonlight) was a Japanese twin-engine night fighter developed during World War II, entering service in 1943 and primarily used for intercepting Allied bombers over the Japanese home islands. It is notable for being one of Japan's most effective night fighters, armed with oblique-firing cannons and equipped with radar in later variants to combat the increasing threat of nocturnal air raids.
