The IS-2 was a Soviet heavy tank introduced in 1944 during World War II, serving as one of the most heavily armored and powerful tanks of the war, known for its exceptional armor protection and devastating 122mm gun that could penetrate German heavy tanks. It remained in service with Soviet forces well into the Cold War era and saw combat in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the Korean War.
