The Holt 5T was a gasoline-powered caterpillar tractor developed by the Holt Manufacturing Company during World War I, serving the American Expeditionary Forces primarily for artillery transport and supply hauling on the Western Front from 1917-1918. The vehicle was renowned for its innovative tracked design, which provided superior traction and mobility across the muddy, crater-filled terrain of trench warfare, making it a predecessor to modern military tanks.
