# Historical Context The Henschel Hs 297 Fohn-Gerat auf Wespe was a German experimental air-defense weapon system developed in the final stages of World War II that mounted an infrared heat-seeking guidance system on a Sd.Kfz. 124 Wespe self-propelled gun chassis. Though designed to engage Allied aircraft, the system saw limited to no operational use before the war's end in 1945.
