The Heinkel He 111 was a German medium bomber that first flew in 1935 and served as one of the Luftwaffe's primary bombers throughout World War II, notable for its distinctive asymmetrical nose and extensive use in campaigns from the Battle of Britain to operations on the Eastern Front. It became one of the most recognizable and widely-produced German aircraft of the war, with over 7,000 examples built in various configurations.
