The Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor was a German long-range maritime reconnaissance and bombing aircraft used by the Luftwaffe during World War II, notable for its effectiveness as a "scourge of the Atlantic" in attacking Allied merchant shipping convoys between 1940 and 1943. Powered by four engines and capable of extended patrols, it became one of the most feared German aircraft over oceanic routes until improved Allied defenses and fighter escort eventually limited its operations.
