The DUKW was an amphibious six-wheel-drive truck developed during World War II that became renowned for its ability to traverse both land and water, serving extensively in military operations and later becoming iconic for civilian amphibious tourism. Originally designated the GMC CCKW with added amphibious capabilities, the DUKW saw widespread use from the 1940s through the Cold War era and remains one of the most recognizable military vehicles of the twentieth century.
