The Douglas C-47 Skytrain was a military transport aircraft derived from the DC-3 airliner and served as the workhorse of the Allied air forces during World War II, primarily used for cargo transport, troop deployment, and airborne operations from 1942 onward. It is renowned for its exceptional reliability, versatility, and significant role in major WWII operations including the D-Day invasion and the Burma campaign.
