The CV-22 Osprey is a hybrid aircraft that combines helicopter and airplane capabilities, entering service with the U.S. Marine Corps in 2007 for long-range troop transport and special operations missions. It is distinguished by its tiltrotor design with two rotating propellers that allow it to take off vertically like a helicopter while achieving the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft.
