The Centurion 5 AVRE (Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers) was a British engineering tank variant of the Centurion medium tank, deployed from the 1950s onward, equipped with a 165mm demolition gun and various engineering tools for combat engineering tasks such as obstacle clearance and bunker destruction. It became particularly notable for its service in the Korean War and subsequent Cold War operations, where its heavy firepower and specialized engineering capabilities made it invaluable for supporting infantry advances and fortification work.
