The Bachem Ba 349 Natter was a German rocket-powered interceptor aircraft developed during World War II as a last-ditch defense against Allied bombing campaigns, known for its innovative vertical takeoff design and extremely short operational history in the final months of 1945. The aircraft is remembered for its experimental nature and as a symbol of Nazi Germany's desperate attempts to develop advanced weapons technology as the war neared its end.
