The Aichi D1A was a Japanese carrier-based dive bomber used by the Imperial Navy from 1936 to 1942, serving as a predecessor to the more famous D3A and seeing action during the early phases of World War II in the Pacific. It was known for its reliability and effectiveness in dive-bombing attacks against Allied naval and land targets during the initial Japanese offensive operations.
